The SpeedWeb architecture consists of a client, web server and application environments. A browser is used to initiate a SpeedWeb session, allowing you to easily access your Speedware V7 applications.
A SpeedWeb application may be initiated in a number of different ways. Typically, the user clicks on a desktop shortcut of hits a link from a list of “favorites” in their web browser to access a SpeedWeb session startup page.
Technologies used by SpeedWeb are also deployed in a fully automated fashion. The first time a SpeedWeb application is accessed, a series of verifications will be performed and all necessary technologies or components, including the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and the SpeedWeb Java applet, will be downloaded and installed. This will allow for quick application startup. Once the technologies are automatically set up, the user will be able to access the application either within or outside of the browser, depending on the way the system was set up.
SpeedWeb can be architected in different ways to fit your company’s needs. Speedware may be set up in an Intranet environment by using a direct IP connection between the user’s browser and the SpeedWeb server. Alternatively, it may be installed in an Internet or Extranet environment by using a proxy connection using HTTP tunneling to allow for easier access through firewalls. In both scenarios, the communication may be completely secured using SpeedWeb’s support for SSL encryption. Whatever your IT environment, SpeedWeb will adapt.
SpeedWeb offers the most efficient access to your Speedware V7 applications through proven methods, such as HTTP tunneling and direct IP connection, as well as load balancing of server processes. SpeedWeb can be configured to pre-start Speedware V7 server sessions so that they may be ready to receive user requests as they are received – instead of needing to start a session when a user connects.
In addition, the SpeedWeb architecture can be configured to be split between physical machines or logical servers and with its load balancing feature, users will always get the best performance. The load balancing feature will also ensure that sessions will be executed in a balanced manner on all the multiple servers available in your custom-designed architecture.
